Future History

When we look back at recent history the constant changing of the ideological guard has been so overt as to be revolutionary in each instance.

In the last century alone we have seen imperialism, protectionism, fascism, communism, consumerism, brinksmanship, capitalism and globalisation. Each has been marked by its own heroes and villains, commentators and countries etc. The births of the UN, the IMF, NATO, the EEC, OPEC (to name just a few children of the revolution) have all proved to be pivotal landmarks in the creation of the world as we know it today.

As we stumble through this current global economic minefield there is a real sense of occasion about it all, not to mention the possibility of devolution of British Parliament. Does nobody else feel the seismic shift happening right beneath our feet?

This seems as good a time as any to recant my favourite parable of the frog in boiling water. We are about to enter an all new ideological era but I feel that the majority of people are sleepwalking into it whilst under the hypnosis of the mass media. If there were ever a moment in our recent histories that begged us to stand up and be counted it is now.

The question is; who will answer the call?
